Tribute To Gleneden Dressage and Lendon Gray

In the fall of 07, fourteen other photographers and myself from the Equestrian Professional Photographers Network had the opportunity to photograph at the private dressage stable of Lendon Gray, past olympic rider and now trainer to a future Olympian, Courtney King. This beautiful setting in Bedford, NY just outside of New York city provided us with the experience to photograph a number of Lendon's clients while she instructed everyone on all of the dressage moves and the best timing to create the most dynamic images.

In appreciation to Lendon and also to help support Courtney King in her bid to be on this years American Olympic Dressage team, a coffee table book has been created with all of the photographers submitting images. The idea was perceived by Carien Schippers, the president of EPNet as a way of giving back in a small way for the gracious gift that we photographers were able to enjoy. Here is a sneak preview of page 4and 5 and pages 10 and 11.

Winter Wonders

Not really one to enjoy going out in the winter cold with my equipment, I had a great experience last week. After deciding to "just do it" I gathered up my gear, a set of snow shoes and headed off to what I hoped would be something interesting. I was not disappointed, in fact the reality far exceeded my expectations. With the recent downpour on a very heavy base of snow, the streams were running like early spring. The result was a breathtaking waterfall scene that made me wonder why I didn't do this type of work more often.

Those Big Expressive Eyes

Recently I photographed Gertrude Seabrook, a beautiful little six month girl. I was constantly amazed at the intensity of those big blue eyes as she surveyed everyone in the studio. In many of her portraits I felt there was a great deal of comprehension and thought going on. I just wasn't sure what it was.

Las Vegas Inspiration and Challenges

With great excitement I sent off my registration and booked into the Tuscany Suites to take part in this years WPPI Convention at the Bally and Paris Casinos in March. The list of speakers is "awesome" with all of the top photographers of the world on stage over the four days. The trade show is one of the largest with many innovative new products to serve my customers with even more unique and quality items. I will report back on this years convention on my return.

Great Fun!

From "little black dresses" to "jeans and jackets" it was great fun as the Murray family celebrated everyone home for Xmas by getting their family portrait. Melanie who is teaching in Belgium and Michael, finishing up electrical engineering surrounded by mom and dad and their jack russels made the task enjoyable. The "reveal" of the ticket certainly got everyone laughing!
