Unique and Beautiful

Brigid and Ken celebrated their wedding in a way that reflected their interests and creativity.  The beautiful setting within the Museum of Science and Technology gave their guests something to remember for life.  The staff provided a guided tour and opened the observatory which holds a keen interest of Ken.  Tulip and Maples added to the pleasure with a delicious meal, expertly presented and oh sooo good!  The fun and originality of this wonderful couple made my job truly memorable.

A New Family To Celebrate

With pleasure I welcomed Nat and Janice to the studio for their family photo session.  It hardly seems that five years have passed since I photographed their wedding in picturesque Merrickville.  With the same beaming smiles and relaxed manner from their wedding day, they introduced me to son #1 Gunner, a two year old boxer and son #2 Braden, their ten month old son.  Needless to say it was a fun session with stories shared of the last five years.

Never Too Young ...

The eQuinelle Golf course at Kemptville last year started a junior golf initiative that I felt was brilliant.  Through the goodwill of local businesses in the area, one hundred and fifty children, age 5-12 were able to participate in one hour professional instruction in the game of golf for ten weeks at NO COST.

When society is always commenting on the obesity of children and their lack of physical activity, here was one group of people who did something about it.

The program is once again being offered free again this year due to the continued support of our business community.  Don't miss out - sign your child up now at eQuinelle.

Gaelic Glen Horse Show

With a sense of sorrow and pride, pride in daughter Suzanne and sorrow for the loss of Carol Durie, I slowly wandered about the Gaelic Horse Show on May 6 to capture a few images.  Carol loved to work and prepare for the annual horse shows that she and Suzanne and a great group of volunteers presented each year.  Perched on high, dry and sandy soil it was usually the first chance for riders and their mounts to get out and test their horsemanship.  Providing these shows was a love of Carol's and everyone was saddened when cancer took another wonderful human being.

On Sunday though the happiness and goodwill of Carol lived on in the form of her daughter Suzanne with her bubbly voice and never ending smile.  Not only had she produced a great show, but she was working to raise funds for the Kemptville Hospital and their treatment of breast cancer prevention. The competitors were joining in with cancer symbols on their horses' hips, buying raffle tickets and even a "pink pony" in the lead line class.

I left the grounds feeling confident that Carol was looking down from above over everyone with a smile and especially proud of her daughter, Suzanne who is keeping her dreams alive!

Sugarbush Studio Supports Ottawa Valley Hunt

I have always enjoyed photographing and working with the Ottawa Valley Hunt.  My earliest contacts were with Earl and June Lacharity, whom I appreciated for all the wonderful work they did for the equestrian community.
This year at the Hunt Ball, I have donated two of my pieces for the silent auction in support of the hunt, one an art print and the other a set of twenty-five, linen cards.
