Award Winning Portrait Design

The photobook, My Poppa was submitted to Zookbinders, one of the largest and best international album and photobook publishers in the United States. It received "Best Portrait Design" in the 2008 Zook Awards.

This book was created for "Poppa" to show the love and importance of poppa to his son and grandsons while giving the grandsons a reminder of their heritage and special family member for life. The setting was the family cottage in Calabogie, fondly called Barryvale Lodge.

To have received this honor is humbling and will be a cherished memory from a truly wonderful portrait assignment.

Someone Special

It was great fun to photograph Kristina, our son's girlfriend. On Christmas morning Keith let me know that the gift from Kristina was really special.

Time Flies

Kim Powell and Scott Lousley came with their three beautiful daughters to do "something different" for Christmas gifts for family. I could not believe how these girls had all become women. We enjoyed remembering a previous portrait session of the girls when they were little children. One of them had a pout on that day that just made the pictures. Their grandma ordered a large wall portrait just to be able to always remember the "different personalities" of each of her little angels.

It's Fun To Help Santa

Every year prior to Christmas, I get to do some special work that will be under the Christmas tree for someone special. It is as exciting for me as the people giving and on my Christmas morning I am often trying to think and visualize the responses that may be occurring.

The Ottawa Valley Hunt presented a beautiful throw of their Huntsman, Sue Hobin. This image was one from their Thanksgiving Hunt and it was truly amazing how accurate to details the throw was.

I thoroughly enjoyed Cheryl Black, Dan Laviolette and their child at the time, their dog when I photographed their wedding in Burrits Rapids. Imagine how much more fun it was to take their first family portrait with their little bundle, Emma. Her eyes shone and it was obvious that the new addition was the pride and joy of mom and dad.

Derek and Jessica Berghuis of Toronto, have a magnificent summer home just west of Brockville on the St. Lawrence. The view is spectacular with the ocean liners so close that you feel that you can reach out and shake hands with the crew.
Derek surprised Jessica at Christmas by having a unique photo book created of their summer session in 2007.
