Playing With Baby

Having photographed Karen and Troy's wedding and then their family portrait , it gave me great pleasure to be able to capture the anticipation of a new baby arriving into the Murphy household. Is it a boy? A girl? It doesn't really matter because big brother, Rowan is ready to play cars with it as soon as it arrives.

North Grenville Camera Club

An interesting new concept is being explored in North Grenville - A Camera Club. There are a large number of amateurs who enjoy and work at their photography in a professional manner. The opportunity to share knowledge, learn and enjoy the companionship of people with like interests makes the concept of a camera club a good innovation.

I have been asked to speak on my career and photography at the inaugural meeting this Wednesday, April 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room at the Independent Grocer. The meeting is open to anyone with an interest in photography and a chance to have input as to what is needed by the avid photographers of the area. I hope to see many of you.

Sharing Within The Arts

March 26, saw me loading up some sample work and heading to the Municipal Centre in Kemptville to be part of a business seminar - Artpreneur. Guest speakers spoke on how to promote yourself, apply for available grants and the key ingredients of success in the Arts.

My presentation of a short slide show and talk was well received and the opportunity to network with a large variety of entrepreneurs was extremely beneficial.

Southern Pines, NC A Little Bit Of Heaven

The race track at Pinehurst is not only active with young horses being trained but is the best place in town for breakfast.

Trainers from all over North America come to take advantage of the great footing. I am fascinated by their ability to drive at high speeds and carry on conversations with each other. One trainer sang constantly to his horse as he drove.

Twin Spires Stable was unique in that it was attached to the house and had the amenities and cleanliness of a guest bedroom, rather than a stable.

Ted and I were once again very fortunate to be able to stay with Eileen Butler at her beautiful winter residence at Pinehurst 6, North Carolina. This restful setting allowed us to relax, shop in unique shops of Southern Pines and Pinehurst, golf, discover the Darling House Pub & Grill and of course for me to photograph.

I firmly believe that every different type of weather condition will allow one to capture unique images. The weather ran from rain to beautiful sunshine and some intriguing fog. The variety of equine disciplines in the red sand area of Southern Pines means that at every corner, you will find someone participating in equine endeavours. As Ted rested in the early morning (a man of leisure), I was out the door early, with my camera, to play. Oh what fun!The foggy morning at the track was special as I was able to photograph for over three hours before the harsh sun came out to stop my playtime.
